Art's Statement:
My pre-teen and teenage years were filled with lots of sneaking around setting off fireworks. My barn now is inhabited by cats that are as feral as I was as a teenager. This painting connects those experiences with the pre-existing imagery of night I found within this metal panel.
I am interested in the standard square format of a Barn Quilt and the often visual punchiness of their color and patterns. The square form of the quilt also reminds me of record albums. This image starts to approach another theme that I am interested in exploring of how we communicate, warn, and establish boundaries and claim ownership in rural spaces
